It’s one of the most inspiring nights of the year; those who give are recognized, those who serve are honored and those who have been served give praise and gratitude.
Coordinated by the Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce, the 20th annual Sky Valley Community Awards Celebration takes place Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, in the Sultan High School Commons. Social hour kicks off at 5 p.m., and includes a potluck dinner, with the awards presentation following at 6. The event offers the opportunity for community groups, clubs, nonprofits and service agencies to say thank you to the volunteers who make a difference in their organizations.
The cost to participate is $20 per organization.
“The Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce invites your organization to participate in the 20th Annual Community Awards & Random Acts of Kindness Award Ceremony & Potluck,” writes the chamber in its participation form. “During this inspirational gathering, we publicly recognize the people who make the Sky Valley a special place to live.”
To nominate a dedicated volunteer, please complete the Sky Valley Community Awards Celebration participant form, available here, by Feb. 3, 2018. The nominations will be reviewed by a panel of elected officials, who will use the information to select the 2018 Citizen of the Year.
In addition to community awards nominations, the chamber welcomes stories that recognize individual community members for random acts of kindness. There is no form necessary to submit a random act of kindness story, said Sky Valley Chamber Director Debbie Copple, just a piece of plain paper is fine. Once the stories are collected, the chamber board of directors will choose its favorite story and recognize the individual featured with a Random Act of Kindness Award.
