The City of Sultan is continually pursing grants in order to finance capital projects. Recently completed capital projects include the construction of the south leg of Sultan Basin Road at its intersection with U.S. 2 (pictured below). This project improved access into the City’s industrial area, and corrected a safety issue for access onto U.S. 2.
Sultan Basin Road Phase III
When the dam at Lake 16 (the City’s raw water reservoir) suddenly failed in April 2011, the City pursued grant funding to repair the dam. The dam was rehabilitated using a $250,000 grant provided by the Washington State Department of Commerce. The project was fast-tracked and completed by the end of October 2011.
The City is currently working on a number of capital projects, all of which are all or mostly grant funded:
|Project||Funding Source||Grant Amount|
|Sultan River Bridge Design||Legislative Proviso & STP||$517,229|
|Alder Avenue Reconstruction||Legislative Proviso & CDBG||$675,516|
|6th Street Water Main||CDBG||$80,617|
|4th Street Overlay||TIB||$337,156|
|High Avenue Reconstruction||TIB||$489,250|
|Sultan Basin Road Overlay||STP & TIB||$295,430|
The City provides overall project management and limited construction inspection services for these projects.
