Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the Community Development Department to work in partnership with the people of Sultan to promote and maintain a safe and desirable living and working environment. This Department helps to maintain or improve the quality of our community in the following ways:
- We enforce laws and codes targeted to solve specific problems in Sultan communities, including:
- Overgrown vegetation and vegetation which obstructs the public right of way
- Quality of life issues which affect residential zones
- Rubbish and nuisances
- Substandard or dangerous buildings
- Violation of handicapped accessibility regulations
- Violation of land use conditions
- Wrecked, dismantled, or inoperative vehicles on private property
- We work with residents, neighborhood associations, public service agencies and other City of Sultan departments to:
- Develop ways to solve recurring problems and nuisances, involving representatives from all affected groups
- Empower neighborhoods to participate in keeping problem areas cleaned up
- Establish community priorities for cleanup projects
- Facilitate voluntary compliance the City laws and codes
